Canoeing the Adirondacks with Nessmuk: The Adirondack Letters of George Washington Sears

Product Description
George Washington Sears, whose pen name was Nessmuk, is one of the most famous names in American canoeing. Best known for his Woodcraft (1884), a slim volume that is still in print today, Nessmuk also wrote a series of "letters" in the 1880s for Forest and Stream, the leading sporting journal of the day. These pieces, which proved immensely popular, were about his adventures in the Adirondacks in an ultralight canoe and his special relationship with J. H. Rushton, the great boatbuilder from northern New York. With good reason, these letters hold a special place in American wilderness writing. Highly recommended. Historic photographs. 177 pages. Softcover. 1993.
